Sir David Manning is a British diplomat who served as the United Kingdom's Ambassador to the United States from 2003 to 2007. He also worked as the Chief Foreign Policy Adviser to former prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Manning was instrumental in the negotiations leading up to the Iraq War in 2003, and his role in those negotiations was documented in the Chilcot Report. He was also involved in the Northern Ireland peace process and was awarded a knighthood in 2005 for his services to foreign policy. After his retirement from government service, Manning served as a senior adviser at several financial institutions and as chairman of the Atlantic Partnership, a transatlantic think tank.
